Minneapolis Agrees To bans police chokeholds as protests

According to the Associated Press, Minneapolis officials announced an agreement to immediately ban the use of chokeholds and strangleholds on Friday, in a move meant to bolster accountability within a police department that uses force against African-Americans and to reform its police department after the death of Geroge Floyd.

The agreement, which will be enforceable in court, would require any officer – regardless of tenure or rank – to immediately report the use of any neck restraint or choke hold from the scene to their commander or their commander’s superiors.

Protests are continuing in metro Atlanta for the 8th day, following the widespread protests sparked by George Floyd's death.

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has issued a curfew for City of Atlanta for 8 p.m.
