Covid-19:Tiger at Bronx Zoo Tests Positive for Coronavirus

     Wildlife Conservation Society's Bronx Zoo announced what is believed to be the first known case of an animal infected with Covid-19 in the US.

    The 4-year-old female Malayan tiger named Nadia, tested positive for the coronavirus after developing a dry cough and is expected to recover.

    According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Samples from Nadia and five other tigers and lions were taken and tested after them began showing symptoms of respiratory illness.

    These animals are believed to have been infected by a zoo employee who wasn’t yet showing symptoms, according to the zoo said.

    Anyone sick with the Covid-19 virus is being advised to minimize contact with animals, including pets, until more information is known about the virus, according to the advice of the USDA .
